Testing completed, races ahead

19.04.2012

Sixth and final day of WSR collective testing begun... well, with a test obviously, although it was of a different kind – written test on WSR rules and regulations. After that it was business as usual out on the track. Both sessions were hit by rainshowers and times were very much dependent on who hit the track in the right time with the right tires. Kevin did 51 laps (28 in the morning, 23 in the afternoon) and was ranked as 14th and 8th respectively, although he topped the timetable during both sessions.
Kevin: "Wednesday was more or less OK for me, but my team-mate Jules Bianchi struggled with a mysterious electrical glitch. What's even more mysterious is that the same defect hit me twice on Thursday - the car just stopped in the middle of the track. Quickest times were posted in the end of the afternoon session by the people who still had new tires left which I didn't. I ran different set-up compared to my team-mate and the gap of 0.2 seconds was OK. Some teams seemed to be very quick but let's see how it pans out at the races.
Weather was quite strange at Aragón this time. Last year we had tests in the same time of year, then it was nice and warm, but now it was like 15 C with a very strong wind blowing, more like a storm. It changed its direction all the time and while on one lap I did 295 kph on the straigt, it was only 280 on the next! On the other hand due to the wind the track dried up very quickly after rainshowers. Clouds circulated around the track all the time and we were really lucky to have jus a couple of showers. Still, rain on Thursday afternoon was such strong that nobody went out."
